The Efficacy of Immunotherapy in the Patients with Nasal allergy to House Dust mite



Abstract
In the treatment of allergic rhinitis, immunotherapy is one of the most effective method But there are a lot of controversy about the indication due to it's long duration of treatment, high cost and newly developed various drugs.
In twenty five patients who diagnosed as nasal allergy to house dust mite and treated with immunotherapy, the changes of the symptoms, problems of immunotherapy were investigated by the questionaire, and symptom diary. Skin prick test, eosinophil
and
basophilic cell count in nasal secretion and serum IgE before and after immunotherapy were investigated also.
@ES The results were as follow :
@EN 1) Twenty three patients were satisfied with the immunotherapy and two patients were not. Nasal obstruction was improved mostly and rhinorrhea was improved leastly.
2) The frequency of sneezing, nasal obstruction, frequency of nasal blowing, drug therapy and symptom duration, disability in social working improved significantly by immunotherapy(P<0.001).
3) Three patients complained of the high cost of the immunotherapy, two patients complained of frequent visiting the hospital, however twenty patients had no complaint.
4) Serum level of IgE, eosinophil and basophilic cell count in nasal secretion and the result of skin prick test were not changed significantly after immunotherapy.
Considering the above results, the immunotherapy could be strongly recommended to the patient of nasal allergy to house dust mite.
